Marinated Grilled Shrimps

This is one of my favorite barbecue dish; spicy marinated shrimp. The shrimp are marinated in a marinade of olive oil, tomato sauce, red wine vinegar, and cayenne pepper. If you don't feel like lighting the barbecue, you can alsopr epare this recipe on an electric grill. You can serve the shrimps with afresh salad and of course a cold drink for a hot summer day. Hope you will enjoy it!

  • 900 gr fresh shrimps, peeled and cleaned
  • 80 ml Olive oil
  • 60 ml tomato sauce
  • 30 ml red wine vinegar
  • 3 cloves of garlic, finely crushed
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1/4 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 4 skewers
  1. In a large bowl, combine the garlic, olive oil, tomato sauce, and red wine vinegar. Season with basil, salt, and cayenne pepper. Add the shrimp to the bowl and stir briefly. Cover the bowl with cling film and let the marinade sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

  2. Preheat the grill over medium heat. Thread the shrimp onto the skewers, once near the tail and once near the head.

  3. Grease the grill grate with a little oil. Grill shrimp on preheated grill for 2 to 3minutes per side, or until shrimp are opaque.
