I went hiking in Chalma forest because I’m bringing my second group of beginner hikers. This time we went to Cuernavaca. Our first time was in Monterrey. Because of my running career and recovery, I was invited to give a speech and experience workshop for Women’s Day.
We went in different tracks. The course I took it was dryer at the beginning with orange colored terrain rocks. Later however it was surrounded with tons of leaves, bushes and climbing plants and a little humid that route takes you to the river. My cellphone rang and my friend asked me where I was, and that they were waiting for me.
So we met again at my car and this time we went into the woods. It was a lot fresher, windy with shade. The vegetation was so much different with oaks, pines and eucalyptus, trees that I can easily recognize. The track was a little steep, which you easily forget while hiking with all the sounds, colors and smells of the forest. As always, we asked for permission before going in, and as gratitude we planned to give something back for its conservation, spiritually and economic.
Some meters of gully, and ravines. It’s great to just deal with all kinds of terrains as a beginner and feel successful and safe on your first time. We were eager to go for more! But the great thing about taking different routes is that we’ll be doing both. The one I did on my own as a warm up in silence and meditation with the river view, and the steep inside the woods as a level one challenge. They could easily memorize the tracks so they could come back on their own, feeling secure. The neighborhood here is incredibly pleasant, and so are the people.
All in all, a great day of hiking and being in nature. We’ll be back for more!
